PRACTICE PROFILE:
Upon completion of his law degree at the University of Melbourne, Theo Alexander commenced practice at the Victorian Bar and has appeared and advised in a wide range of criminal and commercial matters, specializing in major crime, commercial frauds and confiscations. He has extensive advocacy experience at summary, trial and appellate levels, both individually and as a junior.
Theo has a particular expertise in Corporations Law and the criminal prosecution of commercial conduct, including taxation, disciplinary and regulatory investigations and offences, as well as director's duties and pecuniary penalty orders. He is currently completing his LLM with a dissertation on defending concurrent civil and criminal proceedings.
Theo also lectures at Deakin University to post-graduate students in the areas of Corporations Law, International Labour Law, Consumer Protection and Product Liability and Income Tax Law.
He has presented numerous papers on contemporary legal issues for private and government organizations
Whilst at the Bar, Theo has been a director and chairman of both private and public companies, including a financial institution, and is a member of the Australasian Mutuals Institute. He was also Committee Member of the Essendon Community Legal Centre from 2001-2007 and Chairman from 2003-2007, being nominated for LIV Community Lawyer of the Year in 2006.
