Before coming to the Bar Scott was an associate to a judge of the Supreme Court of South Australia, and then practised as a solicitor in Melbourne for 12 years. He worked at Phillips Fox, Ebsworth & Ebsworth and then Hunt & Hunt. He practised in commercial litigation, and gained wide-ranging experience in areas such as contract, corporations, professional negligence, insurance, bankruptcy and insolvency, building and construction and banking and finance. He had the conduct of litigation in all Courts as well as arbitrations, from small matters through to large disputes. Having practised as a solicitor for a significant period Scott well appreciates how a barrister can assist a solicitor's practice.
At the Bar Scott has continued to have a wide-ranging commercial practice. He accepts briefs in all jurisdictions. He recently appeared as junior counsel in a Federal Court trial concerning claims of breach of confidence and infringement of copyright.
