- Five years as a solicitor advocate, progressing rapidly to Senior Legal Officer with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in Queensland and the Northern Territory. Responsibilities were predominately conducting and appearing in relation to Commonwealth summary and indictable offences, bail applications, interstate extradition applications, committals, appeals and pleas at all levels including Magistrates' Court, District Court (QLD) and Supreme Court (NT).

- Six months with the Northern Territory Director of Public Prosecutions on secondment to Police Prosecutions conducting daily summary contested hearings, complex bail applications, contested intervention order applications and other applications

- 12 months as Senior Associate with a city-based specialist criminal law firm appearing as a solicitor advocate to conduct:
(a) bail applications, pleas, contest mentions, committal mentions
(b) pleas, appeals and directions hearings in the County Courts; and
(c) directions hearings and applications in the Supreme Court

- 12 months establishing and managing the Prosecutions Unit with the Department of Sustainability and Environment dealing with environmental regulatory crime including offences relating to exotic and native wildlife, fire offences, land clearing, civil disturbances and civil enforcement proceedings in relation to crown land.

- The last three years as a Specialist Legal Officer with the RAAF Reserve conducting and appearing in relation to criminal and disciplinary proceedings, administrative law, wills etc.

MENTIONABLE/PROMINENT CASES:

2003 - Prosecuted an American tourist for breaching the confines of the Yongala Wreck off Townsville contrary to the Historic Shipwrecks Act which was of particular interest to the international SCUBA diving industry

2005 - Represented the fourth traditional law wife of Galurrway Yunupingu in contested intervention order proceedings in Nhulunbuy (Gove) in the Northern Territory

2006 - Appeared for a Japanese student, Takuya Muto, in one of the first and widely reported 'up-skirting' incidents at a Melbourne back-packers hostel and the Australian Open.
