Douglas James practised as a solicitor for 5 years before coming to the bar. His practise was principally in the area of commercial litigation, including in particular such areas as insolvency/bankruptcy, debt recovery, contract law, equity, trade practices, corporations law and intellectual property.
Prior to commencing private practice, Douglas worked on the Metropolitan Ambulance Service Royal Commission. Douglas's practice as a solicitor has also involved participation in several mediations, whether appearing or instructing. Douglas has also appeared in a range of matters in the various federal and Victorian jurisdictions.
